There is nothing new about rigged elections. What IS new is the extent to which this phenomenon has grown and the extent to which politicians and their media allies are comfortable with it. Holding elections has become a game for politicians and social engineers, a game that is as serious as war. In this game, as in warfare, there is only one immoral act, and that is to lose. All else is secondary to winning the election, everything including honor, truth, compassion, justice, and even human lives.
